Responsibilities
The Resale Associate will work on the register, on the sales floor, in the back room, in the Donation Center, or in SG Home. The ideal candidate has broad resale knowledge, a positive team attitude, a keen sense of humor, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced resale environment. Second Glance, the Thrift Store of The Open Door, provides low-cost items to the community, supports the circular economy through recycling, assists people with free household items and furniture, and raises funds for the organization’s hunger-relief programs.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
· Perform register duties in the main store or SG Home.
· Greet donors and accept donations in the Donation Center.
· Inspect and sort all donated textiles (clothing) and hard goods. Ensure all textiles have no rips, stains or tears and all hard goods are of some value. Discard items below quality standards (or no value) to salvage or trash.
· Identify excellent quality merchandise and price accordingly. Separate and stage seasonal items for future use (i.e. Christmas, Halloween).
· Process donated items through the various sorting stations of the store (textiles, hard-goods, shoes, glass, books, media, china, trash, and salvage). Identify and discard items that are not sold as per company policy. Set aside valuable items for further research.
· Tag all clothing items. Hang textiles on the sales floor based on priority, as determined by the store management. Process linens according to protocol.
· Match quality footwear and price for the sales floor.
· Locate supplies needed for processing and reports low inventory to Store Management.
· Keep workstation clean and stocked.
· Check front entrance and parking lot for debris and donations.
· Monitor the store floor and work areas for safety hazards.
· Participate in scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
· Participate in special events or sales.
· Customer service and assistance.
· Keep the sales floor and the dressing rooms tidy.
· Light housekeeping and maintenance including bathroom checks, minor repairs, trash and recycling removal, vacuuming, sweeping, and dusting.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Volunteer Management
A. Provide ongoing volunteer feedback and correction as necessary
B. Support volunteers and make sure they are using Trauma Informed Care principles when interacting with clients or customers.
Special Events
A. Special sales events, including but not limited to:
1. Holiday Market
B. Other special events
1. Empty Bowl dinner
2. Autumn Breakfast
C. Assist with community outreach events as requested
D. Assist in special event staff scheduling

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and talk or hear.
· The employee must be able to push/pull laundry hampers of up to 250 pounds.
· The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to distinguish basic colors and the ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.
