- Schedule: 40 Hours/week. Monday-Friday; 10:00AM-6:30PM
- Pay Rate: $18/hour

The Prep Cook is involved in all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and storage to meet the needs of the various culinary programs at The Open Door. This person will work closely with the Food Service team to achieve daily production goals and uphold kitchen standards.
Operations
- Daily Production
- Check in with Supervisor to go over the daily task list
- Ensure tasks are completed in the most efficient and organized manner possible
- Prioritize tasks to ensure food is ready on time
- Work with Supervisor and Food Service Manager to adhere to strict guidelines regarding:
- Quality
- Nutrition / Allergens
- Food Safety
- Assist other team members when help is needed
- Inventory
- Assist Supervisor in tracking inventory of food items and supplies
- Help receive orders, and ensure product is stored properly according to FIFO principles
- Alert Supervisor of aging product, donated product, or rescued product that needs to be used quickly
- Keep all storage areas clean and organized
- Walk-in fridge and freezer
- Dry goods room
- Paper goods storage
- Kitchen Maintenance
- Ensure all equipment and tools are kept clean, organized, and in good working condition through personal inspection
- Check and maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, stocked and ready for the next meal at the end of each day
- Food Safety, Kitchen Safety
- Follow all food safety guidelines set forth by Supervisor, Board of Health
- Ensure all team members understand and follow these guidelines
- Practice “safety-first” techniques in the kitchen, especially when using large equipment
- Ensure all team members understand and follow these techniques

- A valid driver’s license
- ServSafe certified, or willingness to complete training
- Work with a team of people of all cultures, races, faiths, lifestyles, and age groups.
- Ability and willingness to work some evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
- The ability to lift 40 lb boxes and to carry equipment and supplies.
- Spanish language skills a plus.
