- Schedule: 40 hours/week, Mon-Wed-Thu 8:30am-5:00pm; Tue-Fri 10:00am-5:00pm
- Pay Rate: $18/hour

The Open Door is a leading food equity organization based in Gloucester on Boston’s North Shore. The organization provides critical food resources to 11,893 people annually. We distribute food through our pantries and programs and deliver meals and groceries to client homes and community partners each day. The Delivery Driver is a key piece of getting food to homebound people throughout our service area. This position also supports warehouse functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely drive and operate the delivery vehicle at all times.
- Navigate a variety of routes throughout delivery area. Must be comfortable driving and working in varying weather conditions.
- Be customer obsessed! We strive to deliver food and satisfaction to our clients.
- Assist with pickups and deliveries of products and observe temp control during transport, including to and from the Greater Boston Food Bank and the Ipswich Community Food Pantry.
- Operate pallet jack and pallet stacker.
- Pack food for delivery and load onto vans and trucks.
- Participate in pantry stocking with specific attention to reach-in freezer, dairy and produce coolers.
- Stack pallets and palletize banana boxes.
- Take notice of any cardboard, trash or compost that needs to be emptied.
- Take notice of any floors, sinks or countertops that need to be cleaned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

- An individual who is highly motivated and an independent worker.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Flexible and adaptable and able to multitask with keen attention to detail.
- Work with a team of people of all cultures, races, faiths, life styles and age groups.
- Ability and willingness to work some evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
- The ability to lift 50 lb boxes and to carry equipment and supplies.
- Able to operate an electric pallet jack and pallet stacker.
- Excellent customer service skills and a hospitable and patient demeanor.
- CPR and First Aid Certified (will train)
- ServSafe Certified (will train)
- 5S Certified (will train)
- A valid Dot Card (will train)
- Pallet jack and Walkie Certification. (will train)
