The Open Door is seeking a strategic and experienced financial leader to join our team as Director of Business & Finance reporting to the President & CEO. This is a pivotal role supporting strategic leadership and positioning the organization for continued growth and long-term sustainability.

The Open Door is a leading food equity organization based in Gloucester on Boston’s North Shore with a mission is to alleviate the impact of hunger in our community. The organization provides critical food resources to 11,893 people annually. This is an opportunity to use your skills to make a difference.

What You’ll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Guide financial strategy, assess risk, and support organizational decision-making
  • Financial Planning: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year financial planning
  • Senior Leadership: Deliver clear financial reporting and insights to the President & CEO, Board and Audit Finance Committee
  • Operations Oversight: Manage accounting, cash flow, payroll, and monthly/annual close processes
  • Grants & Contracts: Oversee budgeting, invoicing, compliance, and restricted fund tracking
  • Compliance & Audit: Lead audit processes and ensure strong internal controls
  • Systems & Infrastructure: Strengthen financial systems, dashboards, and operational efficiency

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of financial leadership experience (nonprofit preferred)
  • Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Experience leading teams and partnering across departments
  • Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-financial audiences
  • Proficiency in financial systems (QuickBooks Online a plus) and advanced Excel skills
  • A collaborative, mission-driven mindset with a commitment to social justice
  • CPA or MBA a plus

Position Details

  • Starting range $85,000-$95,000
  • 40 hours per week/Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., occasional nights & weekends
  • Competitive benefits package including health & dental, matching retirement
  • Start date July 6, 2026
