- Schedule: 40 hours/week/non-exempt. Mon-Fri 10:00am-6:30pm
- Pay Rate: $25-$25.75/hour

Are you passionate about food, community, and social justice? The Open Door is seeking a dynamic Assistant Food Services Manager to help lead and support our culinary programs that nourish our neighbors and build food security across Cape Ann.
In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll work closely with our Food Services Manager, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, and kitchen team to deliver high-quality meals through programs like Community Meals, Pathways Meal Service (CACFP), Summer Meals (SFSP), Build a Meal, and Medically Tailored Groceries.

What You’ll Do
- Lead Evening Meal Service: Oversee Community Meals, a congregate-style dining experience. Greet and train volunteers, supervise meal service, and ensure food safety and sanitation.
- Support Culinary Operations: Assist with menu development, food prep, packaging, labeling, and inventory management.
- Supervise Staff & Volunteers: Manage Prep Cooks and kitchen volunteers, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a respectful, compassionate team culture.
- Coordinate Special Events: Help plan and execute catered events, including Board Meetings, All Staff Meetings, and our signature Empty Bowl Dinner.
- Ensure Compliance & Quality: Maintain documentation, uphold food safety standards, and support program contracts like CACFP and SFSP.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- A commitment to social justice and the mission of The Open Door.
- An individual who is highly motivated and an independent worker.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Flexible and adaptable and able to multitask with keen attention to detail.
- Work with a team of people of all cultures, races, faiths, life styles and age groups.
- Ability and willingness to work some evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
- The ability to lift 50 lb boxes and to carry equipment and supplies.
- Excellent customer service skills and a hospitable and patient demeanor.
- CPR and First Aid Certified (will train)
- ServSafe Certified (will train)
