The Human Resources Manager provides oversite and management of the Human Resources functions of The Open Door. Responsibilities include overseeing the recruitment and hiring of new team members across all programs, as well as the compensation and benefits programs of TOD. Act as the main contact for employment and benefits related questions for all team members.

General HR Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date confidential human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Recruit for openings on appropriate job sites and monitor applicants.
  • Screen applicants and participate in job interviews.
  • Assist with the orientation, new hire and onboarding process.
  • Administer benefits for team members of TOD.
  • Provide support, fact finding and solutions for resolving HR problems. Work with managers and department heads on disciplinary procedures and plans.
  • Ensure all team job descriptions are up to date and accurate.
  • Implement approved Human Resource strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes; confers with senior management for complex question resolution.
  • Participate in annual benchmarking and pay scale review.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Manage and improve employee-relations; ensure compliance with labor laws, and resolve workplace conflicts.
  • Work with department heads to create and manage growth plans for all team members.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and city laws, including but not limited to ADA, EEO, etc.

Training and Compliance:

  • Foster a culture of continuous development and compliance.
  • Maintain logs of monthly, quarterly, annual and other cyclical trainings.
  • Develop, implement and coordinate company-wide training programs and prioritize organizational concerns in accordance with an ongoing strategic plan. Existing training includes but is not limited to ServSafe, DEI, RedCross and 5S.
  • Work closely with employees and managers to promote a positive and productive work environment.
  • Enhance training in Human Resource related areas.

Other:

  • Ensure the Human Resource policies are communicated effectively to all employees.
  • Conduct annual review and update of organization’s employee handbook.
  • Serve as point of contact for employees regarding workplace concerns and issues.
  • Conduct annual health insurance plan review.

Team Member Engagement:

  • Develop, support and participate in team member engagement initiatives, including but not limited to celebrations, holiday events and parties, breakroom postings, recognition programs, and other colleague events to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Support current and future business and individual employee growth through the development, engagement and motivation of team members.
  • Maintain positive employee relations by tracking new hires and conducting departmental check-ins.
  • Manage the administrative processes for new hires and terminations, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Handle unemployment claims with the State.
  • Manage PFML and other leave of absence requests with the State and LTD provide to ensure employees are fully informed of the process.
  • Provide first contact support for benefit-related matters, including health insurance, dental insurance, UNUM plans and other employee benefits.
  • Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings and employee events.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • Excellent active listening and presentation skills.
  • People oriented and results-driven.
  • SHRM Certification (will sponsor).
  • Minimum of five years professional experience in non-profit human resources, or comparable field.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
